Nonsensical backstory:

"Long before the dawn of human civilization, the Earth was governed by ancient elemental beings known as the Pyros, who held dominion over fire and stone. Deep beneath the Earth's crust, they nurtured a powerful substance called Pyronium, the purest essence of fire. This element was the lifeblood of the planet, fueling volcanic activity and maintaining the delicate balance between creation and destruction.

The Pyros guarded Pyronium fiercely, aware of its potential to either bring unimaginable power or catastrophic destruction. They forged a secret realm, hidden far below the deepest mines, where Pyronium was stored in vast, glowing lakes. The Pyros lived in harmony with the Earth for millennia, until the arrival of a cosmic anomaly disrupted the balance.

A rogue asteroid, composed of an unknown, dark matter, collided with the Earth, sending shockwaves through the elemental realms. The impact shattered the Pyros' stronghold, scattering the Pyronium across the world and causing catastrophic volcanic eruptions. The Pyros, weakened and unable to maintain their forms, faded into the magma, becoming part of the Earth itself. The once-thriving Pyronium lakes were lost to time, buried beneath layers of rock and forgotten by all but a few.

Over centuries, humanity emerged, oblivious to the ancient struggle that had shaped their world. The Pyronium's influence persisted, however, subtly guiding the course of history. The mineral was coveted by ancient alchemists, sought by kings, and whispered about in legends as the "Flame of the Earth." Yet, none could find it, for it lay deep within the Earth, beyond reach.

Generations ago, a legendary clan of miners known as the Ironfoot Clan was formed, with roots tracing back to a secretive guild of alchemists who had devoted their lives to uncovering the secrets of the Earth. The Ironfoots were renowned for their unparalleled skill in mining, driven by an insatiable thirst for discovery. They believed that the Pyronium was not a mere myth but a hidden truth, and they swore an oath to find it. For centuries, they mined the world's richest veins, uncovering hidden caverns, forgotten ruins, and treasures beyond imagination, but the Pyronium remained elusive.

The story of your game begins with the youngest descendant of the Ironfoot Clan, Marcellus Ironfoot. Unlike his forebears, Marcellus was less interested in the legends of Pyronium and more focused on the practicalities of life. However, destiny had other plans. One fateful day, while exploring the depths of the newly discovered Mount Ignis, a dormant volcano thought to be rich in rare minerals, Marcellus accidentally triggers a seismic event. Unbeknownst to him, his pickaxe strikes the core of a long-forgotten Pyronium vein.

The Pyronium, dormant for millennia, awakens with a fury. The once calm volcano roars to life, its veins of Pyronium fueling an unstoppable surge of magma. The ancient Pyros, though long gone, left behind a final safeguard: the "Advancing Wall of Doom," a rising wave of lava meant to protect the Pyronium from falling into unworthy hands.

Now, Marcellus must escape the depths of Mount Ignis, leaping from crumbling platforms and avoiding the relentless, rising lava, driven not only by the instinct to survive but also by the knowledge that his actions have awakened something ancient and powerful. As he ascends, fragments of the Ironfoot legacy flash before his eyes, revealing the true purpose of the clan: to safeguard the Pyronium and, ultimately, the Earth itself.

So anyway, get out of there or your ass is toast."
